Happy Thursday slash Wednesday, Everyone! It’s time for Vintage Thingies Thursdays hosted by Colorado Lady at http://coloradolady.blogspot.com . (Nope. Still haven’t figured out the hotlink thing yet.)
Today I would like to share the spoon and fork that I picked up this winter at a thrift store. I paid a dollar for the set. I like them because the fork is all like, “Hey, Baby. How you doin’?” And the spoon is all like, “Well, I swan!” Teehee. My mom hated them until she noticed their expressions.
They reside in my kitchen now. I suspect they might have adult relations after we all go to sleep at night. Thus the eternal look of surprise on the spoon’s face.
On a side note, there are 3 birds residing in my garden. They don’t seem bothered when I go out to weed (not that I do it too often or anything). They just sit there very still. Anyway, do any of my wonderful readers know what kind of bird they are? I don’t own a bird guide (I really should get one) and I was unable to find a picture of them online. I’m sure there’s a picture online somewhere, but all the guides I found required you to know what type of bird they were and then once you picked the type, you could find the species. I live in West-Central Missouri if that helps. Thanks a bunch!
Those are really cool, I have never seen anything like them before. Thanks for sharing.
I LOVE the spoon and fork set!!!! It took me a minute to notice the faces – – – I just thought it was “some design”
I can’t see the markings on your birds very well, but am wondering if they are Killdeer
I love your spoon and fork…thanks for a chuckle at your description of their antics….so cute.
I have no idea what kind of birds those might be, I wanted to say….doves…but they don’t seem to be doves….They are really pretty in color….sorry, I am no help.
Have a great VTT.
That spoon and fork remind me of Marie’s kitchen on Everybody Loves Raymond – she had a similar set on her wall!
I’ve seen the humungous cutlery before, and frankly they’ve scared me, but yours are pretty cute!
Those are cute and amusing.
funny and cute looking cutlery !
That’s some scary looking cutlery, I don’t doubt they get up to mischief in the dark!
Those are awesome! I’ve seen forks and spoons, but never with faces! I’ve also noticed that it’s pretty difficult to find knives…..
Adult relations! You’re a hoot! *giggle*
I guess I should have given some measurements. Each of them is only about 8″ high.
LOL about not being able to find knives!
Thanks for teh suggestion but the birds aren’t killdeer. We have a lot of killdeer and these are darker, fatter, and don’t act like killdeer. (You know how a killdeer will run around and make that sound that’s like “kill-deeeeeeeeer!”? These birds don’t do that.)
For just a dollar! What a great find! If you’ve noticed, these large fork & spoon wall hangings are back in style. I see them in a lot of the home goods stores! Please visit and browse for a while; if you like what you see, click the “Follow” button so that we can inspire one another often!
That is funny!
Not sure about the birds..but I like them.
I thought of Everyone Loves Raymond too. Those didn’t have faces though but I am sure they would have thought of the same thing.
He definitely looks devilish to her surprise! Very cute!
Your fork and spoon are too funny.
It is hard to say about your feathered friends. I believe they are youths and they do not have their adult feathers yet. They may be a variant of dove. They could be whip-poor-will as well.
The birds could be two female red-winged blackirds – how big are they? I’m just not sure why two females would be together in your garden. (Well, I do, I just don;t know if birds do that.) I’ll bring my bird book over and look at them – will Shelby be home?
Me, Your Mom
I loved your spoon and fork. They’re just as cute as can be.
As to your little bird friends, I don’t have a clue what they are, but aren’t they pretty. Happy VTT, have a lovely weekend.
LOL! those are great!
no idea on the birds but that is a beautiful shot of them
These are hilarious, but I’m not sure they’d be quite as funny without your amusing commentary!
Oh those are so cute!! My other always had a set of big giant utensils on the wall. I remember that my grandmother gave all three of her girls a set one yr for Christmas. heh.
Hers didn’t have faces though. I think yours are the kind that do come alive at night.
Thank you for the fun post! ~Kelly
